ASE will be closed from Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 9 a.m. until Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 7 p.m. for runway and taxiway maintenance.
The closure of Aspen/Pitkin County Airport for required maintenance begins next week.
The dates were announced last October.
ASE will be closed from Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 9 a.m. until Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 7 p.m.
The annual closure addresses “aging pavement” on the runway and taxiways.
The Elk Lot will also be closed during that period.
Twenty additional parking spaces are being added.
All vehicles must be removed from the Elk Lot before the closure begins.
Vehicles remaining in the lot during this time will be towed at the owner’s expense, according to a notice.
Airport Director Diane Jackson said, “This closure approach has been well-received in recent years, and we are continuing the practice in 2026.”
She added, “We’re also pleased to complete the work ahead of the Memorial Day holiday, with a second phase of improvements taking place overnight later in the season to avoid an additional runway closure.”
The “full runway upgrade” is scheduled for completion in 2027.
Following the upgrade, the closures will no longer be necessary.
