PrivateFly is offering fixed-rate, one-way pricing for two key cross-country routes this summer using the Bombardier Challenger 300. Price is $29,000 for a one-way charter of the whole aircraft, which seats eight. The move follows its rollout of similar by the flight fixed prices under the City Pairs banner in Europe.
Pricing is valid in either direction at a date and time to suit your needs, according to PrivateFly.
New York City airports include Teterboro Airport (KTEB) and White Plains Airport (KHPN). For the Bay Area, you can fly in or out of Oakland International Airport (KOAK) or San Jose International (KSJC) while Van Nuys Airport (KVNY), Bob Hope Burbank Airport (KBUR), and Long Beach Airport (KLGB) are all being offered for Los Angeles flights.
PrivateFly said its prices represent up to a 30% discount on average market pricing for the same or equivalent aircraft models. It said while peak summer demand and lower aircraft availability can see private jet charter prices soar, these rates are guaranteed not to change.
The $29,000 offers significant savings over most jet cards and is seemingly competing with JetSmarter’s Instant Booking whole aircraft pricing which it launched last year.
JetSmarter prices vary by date. On random dates over the summer, it was offering one-way rates from $26,130 to $36,453 on the transcontinental routes. Like many jet cards, JetSmarter doesn’t guarantee a specific aircraft type, but a cabin category, so the above quotes would be for travel on a super-midsize aircraft.
The PrivateFly move also perhaps foreshadows the battle to solidify the number two position in private aviation solutions behind leader NetJets. PrivateFly was acquired last September by Kenn Ricci and his Directional Aviation group, which also owns Sentient Jet and Flexjet.
During the same period, VistaJet founder Thomas Flohr launched Vista Global and then acquired both XOJET and JetSmarter bolstering both his U.S. footprint and technology.
