Global private jet activity has shown ‘exceptional’ growth in September this year says WingX MD Richard Koe.
This past week, global private jet activity reached 78,800 departures.
Compared to week 38 of last year, this was a 6% increase.
Even so, this was a slight decrease in private jet flight activity, of about 1%, compared to last week.
So far, on a year-over-year basis, the scorecard shows:
This week, private jet flight activity showed a 6% increase year-over-year. So far, from September 1st through September 21st, global private jets have recorded 232,920 flights.
This was an 11% increase compared to the same period of last year, and was also the busiest first three weeks of September in the past six years.
WingX Managing Director Richard Koe spoke about the private jet industry’s success throughout September.
Koe stated:
‘September has been exceptional with 11% growth driven primarily by fractional operators like NetJets and Flexjet posting 20%+ increases. The strength we’re seeing in Part 91K operations shows the fractional model is really resonating with travelers. With the Ryder Cup this weekend, we could see New York area airports hit over 3000 flights based on what we saw in Rome in 2023.’
Globally, private jet flight activity increased by about 6% compared to last year. However, week-over-week saw a slight decrease of about 1%.
This was largely driven by a 2% drop in North American private jet flights week-over-week, although the continent still recorded 6% more flights than last year over the same period.
The United States saw a 1% week-over-week decrease, led by slight drops in flight activity in both California and Texas. Florida remained strong week-over-week, seeing a 5% increase.
Private jet flight activity will likely see a boost this upcoming week due to the 2025 Ryder Cup taking place in Farmingdale, New York.
The Ryder Cup is one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments, with Team USA facing off against Team Europe.
This tournament is expected to bring in significant private jet traffic, as corporate sponsors, VIPs, and golf enthusiasts travel to Long Island for the competition from September 26-28.
The 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome recorded over 225 private jet flights during the same period, about 2.5 times the normal private jet traffic.
This suggests potential for New York City to record over 3,000 flights this upcoming weekend.
Europe saw a 1% increase compared to last week, recording nearly 13,000 private jet flights. This was largely led by week-over-week increases in Germany and Switzerland, although France saw a slight decline
South America continues to show extensive year-over-year growth, recording a 30% increase in private jet flights compared to week 38 of 2024.
Asia and the Middle East also saw significant growth, each recording a year-over-year increase of 7% and 18% respectively.

Global fractional and charter operations also saw a positive year-over-year trend, recording a 7% increase compared to last year.
However, global Part 91K and Part 135 operations saw a 1% decrease compared to last week.
North America saw a slight decrease week-over-week, although it maintained continued growth compared to last year.
Florida saw an 11% increase in fractional and charter operations, recording 15% more flights than last year. However, other prominent states, such as California and Texas, were unable to build on recent success.
Europe only saw a 2% decrease compared to last week, although fractional and charter operations were still down about 2% compared to week 38 of last year.
This was largely driven by decreases across the continent, primarily in the UK, France, and Italy. Germany and Switzerland saw slight increases compared to last week, although still remained down compared to last year.
