Miami is the newest FBO location for Jet Aviation with a state-of-the-art facility that will be completed in 2026.
Jet Aviation has launched initial operations at its FBO at Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport.
The new facility is Jet Aviation’s 12th FBO in the United States.
It has some 30 FBOs worldwide.
Opa Locka is the 8th busiest airport for private jets in the U.S.
The unit of General Dynamics announced it had broken ground on the new facility in October 2024.
Completion is scheduled for mid-2026.
Initial operations include a terminal and a 540,000-square-foot ramp capable of accommodating larger-cabin, ultra-long-range business jets, two new taxiway connections into the airport system, fueling with Jet-A, 100LL, and sustainable aviation fuel, and drive-on access to the ramp via a private entrance.
Senior Vice President David Best said, “Jet Aviation set up its first FBO in the US in 1984, and since then we have been committed to evolving our presence in the region to support our customers when and where they need us.”
Best added, “Miami continues to develop as a business aviation hub for both domestic and international travel, offering a global gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean.”
He noted, “A footprint here enables us to continue to build on our legacy of seamless service across the U.S., and beyond.”
Upon completion, the newly built facility will also feature an 8,500 square-foot Silver LEED-certified FBO building.
There will be a private entrance on the west side of the airfield.
It will include an electric vehicle charging system, LED lighting, and photovoltaic panels.
Customs and Border Protection will be on-site.
The facility will offer dedicated office space.
It will also have 40,000 square feet of hangar space available for nightly transient parking.
Vice President Daniel Larsen said, “We are committed to providing a safe, seamless experience across our network, and the team has been working closely with our design, construction, and local partners to ensure that the FBO meets the needs and expectations of our customers.”
Jet Aviation is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics with over 4,500 employees and 50 locations worldwide.
