Magellan Jets retools Explorer membership, adds fuel surcharge option

By Doug Gollan, November 17, 2022

Boston-based broker Magellan Jets has reduced joining fees for its Explorer membership and added a jet card fuel pre-purchase hedge

Magellan Jets is making several changes across its jet card and membership programs.

It is reducing the joining and renewal fees for its entry-level Explorer membership program.

It now costs $9,500 to join, and the annual renewal is $6,500.

At the same time, guaranteed one-way pricing will now be restricted to flights within the Continental 48 United States.

Magellan’s jet cards and Explorer100 membership offer one-way fixed rates to select Caribbean, Mexico, and Hawaii destinations.

Earlier this year, it also added fixed rates for flights within Europe.

Fuel surcharge pre-purchase option

In another move, it is now offering a fuel surcharge prepurchase that allows jet card customers to lock in current fuel surcharges up to a 25% increase.

The difference is credited to their accounts if the published fuel surcharge decreases by 25% or more.

Magellan is offering a 15% discount on fuel prepurchases through Nov. 30, 2022.
