The latest WingX weekly private jet flight activity report shows business aviation continues to outperform scheduled airlines and cargo.
Despite a 15% drop in global private jet flight activity in Week 47 from the previous week, its 63,732 segments were still 6% ahead of 2022’s record levels.
And despite concerns about a slowdown of private jet flying, the sector is still outperforming scheduled airlines and cargo compared to pre-Covid 2019 levels.
Looking at the year so far, WingX Managing Director Richard Koe notes, “Year-to-date, global bizjet activity trails last year by 4%, although 19% ahead of 2019.”
He notes that scheduled airline sectors are 15% ahead of November 2022.
However, the airlines are 9% behind four years ago.
Dedicated cargo operators are flying 7% fewer flights compared to November last year, 1% ahead of four years ago.
In the U.S., flight activity for the week ending Nov. 26 saw 45,008 sectors, an 18% week-to-week drop but 7% up compared to 2022.
Texas and Florida were top performers, 11% and 8% ahead of last year, with 7,410 and 4,544 segments, respectively.
In Europe, flying (8,652 segments) was 1% higher than a year ago.
