Week 5 of 2026 saw a second consecutive week of year-over-year declines in global private jet flight activity, according to WingX.
This past week, private jets around the world recorded over 65,000 total departures.
However, according to WingX, this was a slight decline compared with the same week last year.
This means that private jets have recorded back-to-back weekly declines for the first time in over a year.
Additionally, private jets in Week 5 recorded about 3% fewer departures than the previous week.
So far, in 2026, on a year-over-year basis, the scorecard shows:
According to WingX, private jets recorded a total of 65,290 departures around the world over the past week.
This was a slight decrease of about 1% compared to week 5 of 2025.
Overall, this marks just the fourth week in the last year to post year-over-year declines.
This was also the second consecutive week that private jets recorded year-over-year drops, marking the first back-to-back weekly declines in over a year.
Global private jet departures also decreased week-over-week, dropping about 3% compared to week 4 of this year.
Nick Koscinski, an analyst at WingX, spoke about the slight decline in activity after a strong start to 2026.
Koscinski stated:
‘Week 05 was down 1% globally, so we’re seeing two consecutive weeks of slight declines after an initial strong start to the year. The four-week trend is still up 2%, which tells us demand is solid even if we’re hitting some week-to-week bumps.’
Even so, on a rolling four-week basis, global private jets have recorded approximately 2% more flights than in the same period last year.
This reflects the single-digit growth trends observed from 2024 to 2025.
The United States saw over 44,000 private jet flights over the past week. This represents a 2% year-over-year decrease and a 4% week-over-week drop.
Texas, a major private jet market, continues to feel the effects of the recent winter storm.
The state saw a drop of over 200 flights compared to last year, which represents a 5% decline.
However, Florida and California saw strong performances, with Florida up 10% year over year and California up 9%.
Even so, California underperformed compared to its strong week last week, showing a 9% week-over-week drop.
This is likely to change next week, as the 60th annual NFL Super Bowl is set to take place in Santa Clara, California.
The Super Bowl is a major national event that drives an uptick in private jet arrivals. Last year, the Super Bowl was held in New Orleans, Louisiana.
During the days leading up to last year’s Super Bowl, New Orleans saw nearly 800 private jet arrivals. This represented a 250% year-over-year increase.
Additionally, the day after last year’s Super Bowl, New Orleans recorded nearly 600 total outbound departures.
This was more than ten times the departures that were recorded on the same day the previous year.
Because of this, the Santa Clara region is expected to record over 600 total private jet departures following this year’s Super Bowl.
