The Gulfstream G600 is one of the company’s most popular ultra-long-range private jets. Business Air News stated that the G600’s “high-speed range, superior comfort, and unmatched efficiency have already exceeded our expectations.”
First introduced in mid-2019, the G600 has gained popularity, with over 200 variants flying around the world. The G600 was introduced alongside the G500, and Gulfstream will soon add the G400 to the family.
The G600 was designed as a clean-sheet replacement for the aging G550 and GIV aircraft. However, Gulfstream introduced a complete fly-by-wire flight controls system, active sidestick controllers, and the famous Symmetry Flight Deck. Gulfstream also added a newly designed wing and a modernized cabin with panoramic windows and a lower cabin altitude of just 4,850 feet.

The Gulfstream G600 was initially unveiled in 2014 alongside the smaller G500. This aircraft was designed to replace the aging G550, one of Gulfstream’s most popular private jets. The first prototype G600 conducted its maiden flight from Savannah International Airport (SAV) in December 2016. After an extensive flight testing program, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) granted the G600’s type certificate in June 2019.
Since its introduction, Gulfstream has produced over 200 total G600s. Several popular operators, such as Solairus Aviation, Thrive Aviation, and Nicholas Air, utilize the G600 for charter or fractional operations. Additionally, the G600 has become popular among ultra-high-net-worth individuals.
The Gulfstream G600 has one of the largest cabins in its class. The cabin of the G600 is 45.2 feet long, 7.7 feet wide, and 6.2 feet high. Like most ultra-long-range business jets, the G600 can accommodate up to 19 passengers. However, in a standard configuration, the G600 seats around 13 passengers or ten passengers in a sleeping configuration. The cabin also utilizes Gulfstream’s signature panoramic windows.
The Gulfstream G600 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW800 turbofan engines. Each provides the aircraft with 15,680 pounds of thrust. This helps the G600 achieve a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.925 and a maximum range of 6,600 nautical miles. Additionally, the G600 has a maximum takeoff weight of 94,600 pounds and a ceiling of 51,000 feet.
Currently, a new Gulfstream G600 ranges between $54.5 million and $60 million, depending on the options selected. Some fully-customized models can reach upwards of $70 million. Pre-owned models are often listed at around $45 million to $55 million, depending on their entry-into-service date.
