A new Cessna Citation Sovereign is listed at $20 million
Development of the Citation Sovereign began in 1998, with the goal of creating a super-midsize private jet that would offer a combination of comfort, performance, and range. The first prototype flew in 2002. It was certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2004. In 2013, Textron Aviation introduced an upgraded version known as the Citation Sovereign+.
The Sovereign cabin height is the same as the Excel/XLS at 5.7 feet with a width of 5.5 feet, but longer at 25.25 feet. It has a seating capacity for up to 9 passengers, with a lavatory at the rear of the cabin.
The Citation Sovereign and Sovereign+ are powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306D turbofan engines, which provide a maximum cruise speed of 460 knots (529 mph) and a range of up to 3,200 nautical miles (3,680 miles) for the Sovereign and 3,200 nautical miles (3,680 miles) for the Sovereign+. They have a maximum takeoff weight of 30,775 pounds and a maximum altitude of 47,000 feet.
When in production, the Sovereign was priced at around $19.5 million new. Used prices start at around $12.9 million.
